EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a budget amendment recognizing a Florida Department of
State, Division of Elections, Cybersecurity Grant Award in the amount of $2,249.69.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain the Board of County Commissioner’s approval to recognize a
Cybersecurity Grant Award from the Florida Department of State, Division of Elections.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Florida Department of State, Division of Elections, is awarding counties
$2,249.69 in order to purchase an emergency backup communications device. This device will allow the
Supervisor of Elections office to failover to a cellular network backup for connectivity during times of
emergency or internet service provider (ISP) outages. It will also assist with reconnecting the Supervisor
of Elections office after natural disasters and allows for business continuity when the primary internet or
Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS) connection is not available.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections will receive $2,249.69 from the
Florida Division of Elections.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT INPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Collier County Board of County Commissioners approve a
budget amendment recognizing $2,249.69 in Supervisor of Elections grant funds.
