EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Nicholas Quist, Public Utilities Wastewater Maintenance Specialist,
as the June 2020 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization and to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Nick was selected as Employee of the Month for accepting a temporary
assignment in Wastewater which took him out of the field and into the office as an Operations
Coordinator, filling in until a permanent hire was made for the position. Because of his field knowledge,
technical skills, and dedication to learning the “in-house” responsibilities, Nick excelled in this
assignment. He not only handled the day to day operations duties, but because of COVID 19, he also
handled all the PPE gear, monitored work assignments and maintained the required reporting. He was
available to answer citizen calls, identify their concerns and issues, and assess what was needed to have
their issues resolved. Nick maintained a calm, professional demeanor as he transitioned to the office
environment. A true testament to Nick is the fact that his team in the field are anxious to have him back,
and the folks in the office don’t want him to leave. Nick's ability to "shift gears" seamlessly to an office
environment and utilize his field experience in the process make him very deserving of the Employee of
the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
