EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a Resolution changing the boundaries of certain voting precincts.

OBJECTIVE: To obtain the Board of County Commissioners approval of a Resolution changing the
boundaries of the following voting precinct: Precinct 414. Precinct 416, which included the area South
of Pine Ridge, North of Solana Rd, East of Forest Lakes Blvd and West of Goodlette -Frank Rd, will be
consolidated with Precinct 414, which includes the area South of Pine Ridge, North of Golden Gate
Pkwy, West of Grey Oaks and East of US-41.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Supervisor of Elections has determined that the consolidation of certain
precincts will lead to the more efficient administration of elections and improve voter services, without
placing any undue burdens upon electors. Section 101.001(1), Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board of
County Commissioners of each county, upon recommendation and approval of the Supervis or, to alter or
create precincts for voting in the county.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this request.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney. Florida Statutes
Sec. 101.001 provides in relevant part as follows:
101.001 Precincts and polling places; boundaries.-
(1) The board of county commissioners in each county, upon recommendation and approval of the
supervisor, shall alter or create precincts for voting in the county. Each precinct shall be numbered and, as
nearly as practicable, composed of contiguous and compact areas. The supervisor shall designate a polling
place at a suitable location within each precinct. The precinct shall not be changed thereafter except with
the consent of the supervisor and a majority of the members of the board of county commissioners. The
board of county commissioners and the supervisor may have precinct boundaries conform to municipal
boundaries in accordance with the provisions of s. 101.002 but, in any event, the registration books shall
be maintained in such a manner that there may be determined therefrom the total number of electors in
each municipality.
The request by the Supervisor is consistent with this statutory direction. Accordingly, the item is
approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: There is no impact on the Growth Management Plan.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Collier County Board of County Commissioners authorizes the
Chairman to sign the attached resolution adopting the aforementioned voting precinct boundary changes.
