To whom it may concern, We received a denial of Home Exemption status due to failure to make property claimed as homestead our permanent residence. (F.S. 196.031) It is dated 5/29/2020. We have been homesteaded in Florida continuously since 2010. We have never owned or lived in other homes anywhere else since then. We moved into our condo on 4031 Gulf Shore Blvd in late 2014 and resided there year round. After 5 years of condo living we wanted a single family, and sold the condo in 2019 after we found a home on 4646 Crayton Rd. that same year. We declared 4646 as our permanent residence and intended to remodel immediately. My trust has owned a rental property in Naples Park since 6/2017, and we were going to reside there temporarily during the remodel which was going to take two or three months. Our licensed contractor did not reveal that his demo work required a permit. He had removed quite a bit of interior when FEMA made us aware that we only qualified for$20,000 budget for remodel. At that point, the house could not be restored to a livable condition and we had no choice but to sell, or build new. We immediately sought a better contractor, Borelli construction, and the new house is underway as I type this. The outside walls are now up. The rental we are living in temporarily at 540 95th Ave. N., has been on the market for sale for several months. If it sells, we will be required to rent elsewhere until our home is complete. 4646 is our permanent residence and we are permanent full time residents of Collier County. I hope this clarifies, and hope that our situation will allow our continued homestead exemption for 4646 Crayton. We expect to move in before the end of the year.
