EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board foregoes its annual summer break and instead conducts
regular meetings to deal with the expected backlog of items, including land use matters.

OBJECTIVE: That the Board hold regular meetings during the upcoming summer months.
CONSIDERATIONS: Like all local governments throughout this nation, the current pandemic
has wrought havoc not only on our local business, but County business as well. Our advisory
boards, including the Planning Commission, have been unable to meet. As Governor DeSantis
slowly reopens the State, the advisory boards will recommence their business and items will
begin to wind their way to the Board for our consideration. I expect that this will be especially
true for land use matters, the approval of which are vital to our construction industry.
Given the backlog of items, especially land use items, it is my belief that the residents of Collier
County would be best served if this Board foregoes its customary summer break and instead
meets during the summer months. Commissioners who have made preexisting commitments can
attend the meetings remotely.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires
majority vote for approval. -JAK
FISCAL IMPACT: This action will have no fiscal impact to the County.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board foregoes its annual summer break and instead
conducts regular meetings during the summer.
