p:e./e~t:c~ or el:~ination of slums or blight. or meet other community
de,elop=ent needs ha,ing a particular urgency because existing
conditions pose a serious and immediate threat to the health or
~~lfare of t~~ C0m~unity and ~here other financial resources are not
a,aiIable to ~eet such needs; and
WEE~EAS, a city or county may apply each cycle for a Community
Development Block Grant for Economic Development based on the number
of jobs created and the amount of private capital leveraged; and
WHEREAS. applicatic~s for this grant will be graded and ranked
for funding by ~he rlorida D~partm~nt of Communi~f ~ffairs; and
WHE?E^S, ~he rlcrid~ S~ate Legislature a~d '-he Federal
Gove:nment, in 1999. have made available the amount of $10,000,000 tor
which o,er 160 cities and counties in the state of Florida will
compete; and
WHEREAS. to be competitive. applications for these funds must
be fi~ed ~ith or mailed to the Department of Co~~unitl Affairs to
