P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Jewish Historical Society of Southwest Florida has
interviewed and documented the many individuals who witnessed
and participated in creating a Jewish community in Collier County
and all of Southwest Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Jewish Historical Society of Southwest Florida has
preserved the legacies of Collier County Jewish pioneers through
the collection of historical records and oral visual histories; and
WHEREAS, the Jewish Historical Society of Southwest Florida established a
trail and timeline beginning in early 1841 and extending through
today which documents the longevity and importance of
Southwest Florida Jewish history in Collier County; and
WHEREAS, the Jewish Historical Society of Southwest Florida draws
awareness to the accomplishments of Southwest Florida Jewish
pioneers and conveys the information through community-wide
educational presentations at the Collier County Museum and other
Collier County venues; and
WHEREAS, the Jewish Historical Society of Southwest Florida disseminates
findings to all interested parties in Collier County and Southwest
Florida through the production of its documentary film series
“Southwest Florida Jewish Pioneers” and its creation of “Virtual
Museum of Southwest Florida Jewish History” found at
www.JHSSF.ORG;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that March 23, 2020, be designated as
10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE JEWISH HISTORICAL SOCIETY
OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of March 2020.
