EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the 2020 Census Agreement, an interagency agreement
between the Collier County Public School District, United States Census Bureau, and the
Board of County Commissioners to collaborate and share resources to facilitate completion
of the 2020 Census.
OBJECTIVE: To share resources with the United States Census Bureau to facilitate completion of the
2020 Census.
CONSIDERATIONS: At the Board of County Commissioners meeting held on December 10, 2019, the
Board voted 5-0 to appoint a Complete Count Coordinator to work with the School District, United States
Census Bureau, local agencies, and civic leaders. The Complete Count Coordinator promotes awareness
and participation in the 2020 Census by coordinating County staff, resources, facilities, and informational
programs to Collier County residents, interest groups, and municipalities to ensure an accurate count.
Through this appointment, the County recognizes and acknowledges the importance of the Census to t he
local community; and, as such, staff supports and recommends in favor of making certain County
facilities available to the Bureau during the term of the agreement for the purpose of facilitating the
completion of the 2020 United States Census to the ext ent that such facilities are not otherwise occupied
or required for the completion of County business and that doing so does not place an undue burden on
the County.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. - JAB
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this action.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the 2020 Census Agreement, an interagency agreement
between by the School District, United States Census Bureau, and Collier County Government to
work together and use county facilities and resources to facilitate the completion of the Census.
