EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint two members and appoint an alternate member to the Collier
County Code Enforcement Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two regular members and appoint an alternate member to the Collier County
Code Enforcement Board.
CONSIDERATIONS: This seven-member board, plus two alternates, was established pursuant to
Chapter 162 of the Florida Statutes by Ordinance No. 07-44, as amended, and is composed of individuals
representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and
realtor, and who are considered for appointment based on their experience or interest in the areas of the
codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financi al
Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a quasi -judicial board. A
list of the current membership is included in the backup.
There are two vacant alternate seats on this board, and two regular seats expiring on February 14, 2020.

ATTENDANCE: During the past two years, Mr. Ortega has had eight absences, five of which were
excused. Ms. Curley has had two excused absences. Attendance records are included in the backup to this
item.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: As a quasi-judicial board no committee recommendation is required.
Staff recommends that Ms. Davis be appointed as an alternate member on the Code Enforcement Board,
to fill the remainder of a vacant term expiring on February 14, 2022, and that Mr. Ortega and Ms. Curley
each be reappointed to new three-year terms expiring on February 14, 2023. A recommendation memo is
included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff Recommendation,
and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
