EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint two members to the Ochopee Fire District Advisory Committee
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two members to the Ochopee Fire District Advisory Committee, to two-year
terms expiring on December 31, 2020.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five-member committee was created by Ordinance No. 89-98 to advise the
Board of County Commissioners on the operations and budget of the Ochopee Fire Control District.
Members must reside within the boundaries of the Ochopee Area Fire Control S pecial Taxing District,
and include 1 member from Everglades City (appointed by the Mayor), 1 member from Plantation Island,
1 member from Chokoloskee, 1 member from Lee Cypress (Copeland) and 1 member from Ochopee.
Terms are 2 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Two seats on this committee expired on December 31, 2019. The vacancies were advertised and
applications were received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: During the past two years, Dr. Bradke has had six absences, and Ms. O’Connell has
had perfect attendance. Attendance records are included in the backup.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: That Dr. Bradke and Ms. O’Connell each be reappointed to
their respective seats on this committee, to two-year terms expiring on December 31, 2021. A
recommendation memo is included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointments.
