EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve an Extension and Amendment to the Service-Learning
Agreement for Student Internships between the Florida Gulf Coast University Board of
Trustees (FGCU) and the Collier County Board of County Commissioners throug h
January 24, 2025 and authorize the Chairman to execute the agreement.
CONSIDERATIONS: On January 24, 2017, the Board approved a Service-Learning Agreement (item
16E4) with FGCU that clearly outlined the responsibilities of the University, the County a nd the students
who will participate in the program and provided for a two-year fixed term for the agreement based on the
date of execution, with two one-year renewals. The agreement was renewed in January 2019. It is
beneficial to both organizations to execute a written amendment, signed by both parties, to renew the
agreement for the final year under the initial arrangement, as well as extend the agreement by four
additional years, ending on January 24, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT: There are no Fiscal impacts associated with this Executive Summary.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote
for approval. - CMG
RECOMMENDATION: To approve an extension and amendment to the Service-Learning Agreement
between Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees (FGCU) and the Collier County Board of
County Commissioners through January 24, 2025 and authorize the Chairman to execute the Extension
and Amendment.
