EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board of County Commissioners, acting as the Collier County
Community Redevelopment Agency Board, approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a
Commercial Building Improvement Grant Agreement between the Community Redevelopment
Agency and Kurgis 1996 Irrevocable Trust in the amount of $6,854.50 for property located within
the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area at 6023 Bayshore Drive.
OBJECTIVE: To revitalize existing commercial facilities through the building improvement grant
program established by the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Area.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Commercial Building Improvement Grant Program (C -BIG) is a
redevelopment initiative funded and administered by th e Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community
Redevelopment Area (BGTCRA) as partial reimbursement for exterior and interior improvements to
commercial buildings within the redevelopment area. The C -BIG program funds both exterior and
interior improvements to qual ified commercial buildings in the BGTCRA. Funding for interior
improvements is contingent upon grantees performing exterior improvements. All interior and exterior
improvements must be approved by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board prior to
commencing any improvements.
A C-BIG application was submitted by Kurgis 1996 Irrevocable Trust for a fifty (50) percent
reimbursement to improve the exterior of the commercial property located at 6023 Bayshore Dr. The
owner received the two required estima tes for the exterior improvements. The lowest estimate is
$13,709.00 resulting in a total reimbursement request of $6,854.50.
FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient funds are available in the Bayshore CRA Fund (187) to support the
proposed grant reimbursement of $6,854.50.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: The improvements approved through the C -BIG program
will further the goals, objectives and policies outlined in the Future Land Use Element for the
Bayshore Gateway Triangle Redevelopment Overlay.
ADVISORY BOARD RECOMMENDATION: With a unanimous vote of 9 -0, the BGTCRA
Advisory Board approved the application at the December 3, 2019 regular meeting.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved for form and legality and requires a
majority vote for approval. - JAB
