P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established
the Waste Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award); and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family
residences for enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, Pelican Wire contributes to the greater good of Collier County by
advocating the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” message, thereby helping to
prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, Pelican Wire’s reuse and source reduction program includes:
• Recycling all cardboard containers while processing orders globally.
• Recycling collection bins throughout the facility, allowing the recycling of
manufacturing materials, bottles, cans, plastic food tub/containers, and
paper.
• Reusing pallets, wiring spools, and other packaging material.
• Communication with the Collier County Waste Reduction and Recycling
Section to access educational literature and labels to eliminate recycling
contamination.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a plaque and space on the county’s
website showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling
programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division congratulates
Pelican Wire and all its employee-owners.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that we congratulate
