EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint two members to the Industrial Development Authority.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint two members to the Industrial Development Authority, to fill the remainder of
vacant terms expiring on January 8, 2023 and April 13, 2023.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Industrial Development Authority was established on February 27, 1979, by
Resolution No. 79-34, pursuant to FL STAT 159, Part III. This five-member authority has the power to
sell industrial revenue bonds. Money generated from the bonds would be used to construct industrial
plants, equipment and other facilities which would be leased or sold to private industry. Terms are four
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
There are two vacancies on this authority. The vacancies were advertised and applications were received
from the following:

ATTENDANCE: During Dr. Jones’ recent term on the Industrial Development Authority, he had no
unexcused absences.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: That Mr. Caton be appointed to the Industrial Development Authority,
to fill the remainder of a vacant term expiring on January 8, 2023, and that Dr. Jones be appointed to fill
the remainder of a vacant term expiring on April 13, 2023. Recommendation memos are included in the
backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff Recommendation,
and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
