EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize staff to negotiate a Right of First Refusal Agreement with North
Collier Fire District regarding the potential sale of Station 40 located at 1441 Pine Ridge Road.
OBJECTIVE: To ensure the County has an option to buy if the North Collier Fire District decides to
sell Station 40 located at 1441 Pine Ridge Road.
CONSIDERATIONS: In January 2019, the Board discussed North Collier Fire District’s intent to sell
Station 40 located at 1441 Pine Ridge Road and re-locate to an undeveloped site at 1941 Pine Ridge Road
(8605 Kathleen Court) and the potential impacts of such a re -location on EMS, which co-locates with
North Collier Fire at the current location. After considering these impacts and staff’s recommendations,
the County sent a formal offer to purchase the station.
The Fire District has made no formal decision at this time regarding the sale of this property or the
County’s offer, however, discussions during recent Fire District Commission meetings indicate a
continued interest in relocating to the new site. Therefore, the Board considers it prudent to negotiate a
Right of First Refusal agreement to keep all options open. Should negotiations be successful, staff will
bring such agreement to the Board for final approval.
FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact is associated with this item, however, there is generally a
monetary value attached to such contracts.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues at this time, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this
action.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize staff to negotiate a Right of First Refusal Agreement with North
Collier Fire District regarding the sale of Station 40.
