EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Joe Coccia, Growth Management Senior Field Inspector, as the
November 2019 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization and to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Joe has been with Growth Management since 2015. His current assignment is to
oversee the road reconstruction and drainage installation work for the Storm Water Division’s joint
County/City of Naples project west of Goodlette Frank Road. This project is very large and complicated,
consisting of removing existing roadways and installing new sewer and water mains, associated drainage,
and reconstruction of the roads.
Joe has been involved in the oversite of utility installation and backfill to ensure that the density
compaction meets our standards for new roadways to be constructed in the future. Many property owners
have had to contend with no pavement and poor access to their homes for months at a time. Detours,
construction noise and heavy equipment are a constant source of irritation they experience daily.
Joe has met with many of the residents and business owners and has done an outstanding job of keeping
them informed and knowledgeable about what is happening with the project. His interactions have
succeeded in keeping complaints to a minimum, which is very unusual for a large -scale project such as
this. He always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone's needs are met to the best of his ab ility.
Joe has a ‘can do’ attitude and is always looking out for the residents’ and taxpayers’ best interests which
is why he is so deserving of the Employee of the Month.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
