EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to provide after the fact approval of the submittal of the Application for Funding
Assistance for the Sheriff’s Office Residential Substance Abuse Treatment grant.
OBJECTIVE: To ratify the submittal of the Application for Funding Assistance for the Sheriff’s Office
Residential Substance Abuse Treatment grant.
CONSIDERATION: The Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) grant provides funding for
residential substance abuse treatment to incarcerated inmates, reintegration through reentry planning
activities within treatment programs, assist offenders and their communities through the delivery of
community reintegration treatment and other broad-based aftercare services.
The application was due on June 14, 2019 and the Sherriff’s Office learned of the deadline on June 13,
2019. Due to the short turnaround required, the Sheriff’s office timely submitted the application and is
now seeking after the fact approval of its submittal.
FISCAL IMPACT: The RSAT application requested the following funding:
State funding for FY2020: $90,178
In-kind match required for FY2020: $45,089
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: None
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The Board will have the opportunity to accept or reject the funds if the
grant is awarded. Accordingly, this Office has no issue with respect to the legality of this request, which
is appropriate for Board action and requires a majority vote for Board action. -JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To request after the fact approval of the submittal of the Application for
Funding Assistance from the Board of County Commissioners for the Sheriff’s Residential Substance
Abuse Treatment grant program.
