Community Development and Environmental Services - Joe Schmitt. Slide Presentation on the PUD's - growth in the County - some highlights: · Growth along East 951 - Collier and Immokalee Rd. PUD's impact on this part of the County, 8,000 new units zoned yet to be built · Collier Blvd - Immokalee Rd. to Orange Tree - PUD's in and around Immokalee, Serenda DRI almost the size of Ava Maria · Golden Gate Estates: 1,000 a year in permits · Commissioner Coletta also wants Golden Gate Estates residents to express what kind of service they feel they need in their community (gas stations, library, pharmacy, etc.) IV. Public Utilities Division - Roy Anderson/ Jim Delony a. Water reclamation treatment facilities - 11 well sites, site layout in Golden Gate Estates North of Palmetto Ridge b. Water Treatment Facility has 4 Phase's estimating completion in 2021 c. Resident Recycling to coordinate with Collier County solid waste Commissioner Coletta recognizes - Rita Greenburg, Fire Chief Don Peterson, and the Sheriff's Dept. for their hard work in the community. Road Projects- Presented by Don Scott-Transportation Planning Director-slide presentation a. 951 - Collier Blvd Extension, Immokalee Rd to Bonita Beach Rd. _ 4 to 6 lanes b. Vanderbilt Beach Rd. Extension to Collier Blvd to DeSoto Blvd 4 to 6 lanes c. Oil Well Rd. from Immokalee to Camp Keias Rd - 5 lanes d. 6 lanes Everglades to Camp Keias Rd (construction to begin 2007) e. Randall Blvd - Immokalee Rd. to Desoto Blvd.,6 lanes f. Wilson Extension 2 May 31, 2006 g. Everglades Blvd. to 1-75 has had traffic issues on the impact of congestion on the already busy road - need Federal Authorization Commissioner Coletta asked if paving is done with all the lime rock roads. Don Scott responded that cost sharing to finish the remaining roads is estimated at $30M. VII. FDOT - Stan Cann, District Secretary for District 1 FDOT; Johnny Limbaugh, Southwest Area Office Manager-slide presentation a. SR82 and SR29 -in design category right now and is most important to the State - the completion of renovations is critical to the economy b. Lee Rd to SR82, SR29 statewide funds needed-l st meeting of SW Florida Authority has already been done on the design to have express lanes down the center of 1-75 and be tolled - starting at the new Golden Gate Pkwy to Lee County 35 miles - $469M for project for over 5 years c. Adding Immokalee interchange and Daniels Rd. contract will be this time next year Commissioner Coletta adds that community help is needed in signing up for Road Committee and he handed out sign up sheets. VIII. Emergency Management - Dan Summers - Hurricane Awareness a. Hurricane season starts June 1 through November 30 b. People need to fix any remaining damage to roofs done from Hurricane Wilma c. Slides shown on Hurricane Categories d. Hurricane Wilma did not have the storm surge that was expected- but future hurricanes may; we need to focus on the damage that storm surge can possibly do. e. Governor Bush said to have 60 - 70 million dollars to local governments statewide to fix county shelters f. EOC - 72 hr. supply kit for yourself and your pets g. WGCU - State of Emergency signal h. Have a Family Disaster Plan i. Out of State friend or family contact j. Have an Evacuation Plan for going North and East k. Get all important documents together and a re-entry ID I. Have knowledge on generator safety and chainsaw safety Commissioner Coletta asked Joe Schmitt how much longer it will be for the data on the study phase for the new flood maps. Joe Schmitt replied about 18 to 24 months. 3 May 31, 2006 SPEAKERS Steve Alivara - Golden Gate Estates - wanted to know how the County will faclitate residents of the Estates with the 5-year process to Ava Maria Paul Midney - Is concerned with the fast pace growth of Collier County turning into a crowded city and hampering their way oflife in Collier County. Commissioner Coletta responded that there are governor's orders on the conservation ofland of80% - Owners of undeveloped property do have the rights to sell their land for commercial use or anything else they desire. Silia Fellows asked when the Super Target is scheduled to start construction. She also wants sidewalks on her street off White Blvd. (Was advised to get a petition going from everyone on her street wanting the sidewalk and send to Advisory Committee) Larry Ubcurt - The debris pick-up last year after the hurricanes was wonderful, great job done. Also asked how deep are they going to be digging for the new water plant? Jim DeLony responded that the well will be dug 700 - 1000 feet down and will not affect any of the people in the Estates. Don Scott stated that the Immokalee Rd. construction is on schedule and when it is bid they pick the longest time schedule to complete the job. Greg Bower asked about the dump truck traffic and when is the last dirt fill pit going to close? Joe Bonest - In answering Greg Bower, the Jones Pit has run out of clean fill and rough fill still has 5 to 10 years left. Lee and Hendry County's also have clean fill to use. Don Scott answered that the County is not shutting down any pit. Jones Pit cannot blast on premises, and is scheduled for June 1 meeting in front of the Planning Committee to decide if blasting will be allowed. Terry Davis - Regarding the Waterways Community - asked if there are any stores zoned for this area. Joe Schmitt responded that there is no commercial zoning except Wilson and Golden Gate Blvd. in 5-acre parcels. 4 May 31, 2006 8:45PM - Commissioner Fred Coyle left the meeting and did not return. Karen Ackward - is looking for a place to hold Civic and Girl Scout meetings etc. in the Orangetree area without having to travel far or pay large fees. Joe Delate - Responding to meeting place, there are plans for a 40 - 50 people meeting room at the new Regional Park. Karen Ackward - They want a meeting room to handle at least 200 people, like the original request. Brian Flick - Wants to know if there are any more beach and boat access areas being planned for. Joe Delate - He was ready for this question and the following are plans for Beach and Boat access sites in the near future - Boat access, Orangetree Regional Park _ Key Waden-Rookery Bay access via ferry - Temporary beach access at Vanderbilt Beach -Bluebill, with restrooms and parking - Tiger tail to have new access and restrooms and parking, 951 to Goodland boating access with 90 more parking spaces and access to the 10,000 Islands - Pulling park in Cape Sambas Park to use after 5PM Guillermo Vasquez - Would like more exclusive meetings held in the Immokalee area. Commissioner Jim Coletta - He encourages Mr. Vasquez to get involved with his Area Chamber of Commerce.
