WHEREAS, Naples Elks Lodge #2010, of the Benevolent and Protective Order
of Elks, through its Constitution is a Patriotic Order; and,
WHEREAS, the Lodge promotes the ideals that the citizens of Collier County
and the nation live in freedom, won through great sacrifices and
many tribulations, which have provided the foundation for free,
prosperous and independent life; and,
WHEREAS, we realize that each generation must work to maintain this
freedom, otherwise, through carelessness or indifference, the
rights and liberties enjoyed may vanish; and,
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize this freedom and to honor the
citizens of Collier County and the nation during National Patriotism
Week. Originally proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1982
as the third week of February, it was after the Twin Towers, the
Pentagon and Flight 93, the plane containing 44 American heroes
who died in a field in Pennsylvania on 9/11/01 that Patriotism
Week was changed to include September 11.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that September 9 through 15, 2019, be
designated as
NATIONAL PATRIOTISM WEEK
IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 101h Day of September 2019.
