EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reclassify an alternate member as a regular member on the Code Enforcement
Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reclassify alternate member Chloe Bowman as a regular member on the Code
Enforcement Board.
CONSIDERATIONS: This seven member board, plus two alternates, is established pursuant to Chapter
162 of the Florida Statutes by Ordinance No. 07-44, as amended, and is composed of individuals
representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and
realtor, and who are considered on the basis of their experience or interest in the areas of the codes and
ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each
year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a quasi-judicial board. A list of the
current membership is included in the backup.
Board member Ryan White resigned on July 24, 2019, leaving a vacant seat. Staff would like to reclassify
the following alternate member as a regular member to fill this vacancy:

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: As the Code Enforcement Board is a quasi-judicial board, no
committee recommendation is required. Staff recommends that Ms. Bowman be reclassified from an
alternate member to a regular member, for the remainder of her term which will expire on February 14,
2022. A recommendation memo is included in the backup. The resulting vacant alternate seat will
continue to be advertised.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reclassification.
