EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve an “after-the-fact” grant application to Schwab Charitable Fund and
accept a restricted donation of $1,000 to benefit the Immokalee Branch Library and authorize the
necessary Budget Amendment.
OBJECTIVE: To accept a restricted donation to benefit the patrons of the Immokalee Branch Library.
CONSIDERATIONS: On August 1, 2019, the Collier County Public Library received a grant
application notice for a $1,000 award from the Schwab Charitable Fund. T he request stipulated the money
shall be used for the Immokalee Branch Library. It is the intent of the Library to use these funds to
enhance the quality of services and programs to the residents and visitors.
The application was required to be prepared a nd submitted within two (2) days of application receipt.
Permission was requested to have an extension of the submission deadline. Schwab Charitable allowed an
additional five (5) days for submission. However, due to the unusually quick turnaround required and the
Board of County Commissioners (Board) being in summer recess an “after -the-fact” application process
was necessary. Collier County CMA #5330 authorizes the County Manager to approve the submittal of
grant applications with subsequent Board action at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting to ratify
the approval as an “after-the-fact” application. The County Manager approved the grant application on
August 7, 2019.
Upon receipt of the $1,000 restricted donation, a Budget Amendment will be prepa red and presented to
the Board only if any changes are made to the amount received.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is needed to appropriate the $1,000 donation within the
Library’s Public Services Grant Fund (709), Project 33643. There is no requiremen t for a County match.
LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. - JAB
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact resulting from this
action.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve an “after-the-fact” grant application to Schwab Charitable fund and
accept a restricted donation of $1,000 to benefit the Immokalee Branch Library and authorize the
necessary Budget Amendment.

The total of the project is $1,000. There is no match requirement for this grant
The funding opportunity was sent to Collier County Library on August 1 , 2019 and was requested
to be returned in two days. An extension of the deadline was requested and CHS was given an
additional five days to submit. Due to the Boards summer recess and short turn around time, we
are asking for your approval to submit the application for submittal followed by After the Fact
approval by the Board of County Commissioners at the September 10, 2019 BCC meeting.
