EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $86,000 to fund a Hurricane Irma related
work order for repairs to Bayshore Drive decorative lighting.
OBJECTIVE: To repair and replace existing decorative light fixtures located on Bayshore Drive
and Bayshore Drive South damaged by Hurricane IRMA.
CONSIDERATIONS: The purpose of the project is to repair and replace existing decorative
light fixtures located on Bayshore Drive and South Bayshore Drive damaged by Hurricane
IRMA.
The deco rative street lighting was installed as part of the initial Bayshore Beautification
Streetscape project completed in 2000, maintenance and repairs of the decorative fixtures are the
responsibility of the Bayshore Beautification Municipal Service Taxing Unit. The County
requested an extension with FEMA as it proved challenging to find parts to repair and replace the
20-year-old fixtures.
The procurement procedures outlined on the County’s Annual Agreement for General
Contractors services were followed and the lowest quote of $85,836 was received. A work order
will be generated to complete the work once the funds are allocated to this Irma Project.
FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of the repair work order for Bayshore Drive decorative lighting is
$86,000. A budget amendment moving funding from Bayshore Project Fund (160), project
50172, Thomasson Drive Landscape Improvements to Hurricane Irma project 50154 is required.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) representatives where on site immediately
following the event and have estimated the total repair cost for this project at $80,115.24. The
Bayshore Beautification Municipal Service Taxing Unit anticipates reimbursement for a portion
of the repairs.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no
legal issues, and requires majority vote for Board approval. -JAK
