Agenda 09/10/2019 Item #3D (Employee of the Month)09/10/2019 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Presentation of the June 2019 Employee of the Month, Brianna Richard, Veterinarian Technician, Public Services Department. OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant contributions to the organization and to our community. CONSIDERATIONS: Brianna joined Domestic Animal Services as a Veterinary Technician in February 2018. The Shelter Veterinarian was on extended leave and the second Vet Tech position was vacant, so Brianna hit the ground running! She quickly learned her way around the clinic and immediately took over scheduling the spay and neuter surgeries for DAS. She had to call local clinics to set up appointments, transport animals to and from their surgery appointments, schedul e relief veterinarians, keep DAS staff apprised of the scheduling and update the medical records of all animals that received surgery. She quickly became the point of contact with our local vet partners. Brianna also took responsibility for the ordering a nd inventory management of the clinic including all medications, controlled substances and medical supplies. She reorganized the clinic and the surgical suite to improve and increase efficiency. During her first six months, when the Shelter Vet was out, sh e triaged the injured and sick animals that arrived daily, to determine if they needed to be sent out to an emergency Veterinarian, or if they could be held until the next relief vet was scheduled, consulting with relief vets by phone as needed and transporting those animals that required immediate medical treatment. Brianna has an amazing work ethic and never hesitates to jump in and lend her assistance with any situation that arises. She helped with the on-boarding of the new Shelter Veterinarian, she mentors new clinic employees, and she helps train Animal Care Specialists when they rotate through the clinic. Brianna provides exceptional customer service both to the public, and to our internal customers (DAS staff and volunteers) as well. Brianna's unwa vering dedication to DAS and her compassion and concern for all the lost and stray animals that arrive daily at DAS make her truly deserving of the Employee of the Month. FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for this are available in the employee’s budget cost center. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with this Executive Summary.
