Recommendation to Approve a Budget Amendment Reducing Budget Appropriations in the
Clerk's Fund (011) Consistent with the Understanding of both the Board of County Commissioners
and the Clerk of Courts that the Clerk is Functioning as a Fee Officer in Fiscal Year 2008
OBJECTIVE: To reduce budget appropriations in the Clerk Fund (011) consistent with the
understanding that the Clerk is funclioning as a fee officer in FY 08,

This amount was included in budget resolution adopted on September 20, 2007 at the final public hearing
on the FY 2008 Collier County budget. However, both the Board of County Commissioners and the
Clerk of Courts are in agreement that lhe Clerk is functioning as a fee officer in FY 08. As such, the net
Clerk fees of $5,490,800 budgeted in Clerk Fund (011) should not be included in the Board's adopted
budget for FY 08 because, as a fee officer, the Clerk will operate his office using Clerk fees,
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact.
FISCAL IMPACT: To reduce budgeted fee revenuc and lbe offsetting appropriations in the Clerk Fund
(011) in the amount of $5,490,800,
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners:
1, approves a budget amendment reducing budgeled revenue and expense appropriations in the
Clerk Fund (011) in the amount of$5,490,800,
