EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Bid #08-5018, "Vanderbilt Drive Pedestrian Bridges", for the
purchase and installation of prefabricated pedestrian bridges crossing the Cocohatchee River
and one of its tributaries on the west side of Vanderbilt Drive within the existing right-of-way to
Thomas Marine Construction, Inc. in the amount of $607,790,00, (Project #600331).
OBJECTIVE: To award Bid #08-5018, "Vanderbilt Drive Pedestrian Bridges", to Thomas Marine
Construction, Inc, in the amount of $607,790,00,
CONSIDERA TION: On October 29, 2007, the Purchasing Department sent 310 notices to vendors
for Bid #08-5018, "Vanderbilt Drive Pedestrian Bridges", for thc purchase and installation of
prefabricated pedestrian bridges crossing the Cocohatchee River and one of its tributaries on the west
side of Vanderbilt Drive within the existing right-of-way,
On November 14, 2007, a mandatory pre-bid meeting was held, at which time all prospective bidders
had questions answered regarding the bidding documents fi,r this project. On November 2'1, 2007,
four bids were received and opened, Staff reviewed the unit pricing on the bid tab, and Thomas
Mar'ine Construction, Inc, was the lowest, qualified and responsive bidder. The bid total was
$607,790,00, The bid results were as follows:

FISCAL IMP ACT: Funds in the amount of $607,790,00 are available in Project #600331. This
project is part of a Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement for construction with the Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT) in which up to $5] 0,000,00 will be reimbursed by the FOOT
following completion and acceptance of the project.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This project is consistent with the Transportation Element
of the Growth Management Plan,
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board award Bid #08-5018, "Vanderbilt Drive Pedestrian
Bridges", to Thomas Marine Construction, Inc, in the amount of $607,790,00 and authorize the
Chairman to execute the standard contract after review by the County Attorney's Office,
