COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to deelare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk:
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99-410, thc Board ofColmty
Commissioners has detelmined tbat attendance at the functions of fratemaL business,
environmental. educational, charitable, social. professional, trade, homeowncrs, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.

PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with [mmokalce community.
DATE OFFUNCTION/.~VENT: February 8, 2008
FISCAL IMPACT: $100 - Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99-410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Coletta to
attend function serving a valid publie pw-pose.

2008. The time has not yet been determined. Rotary Members cost is $100.

Public Purpose. When you are certain that you would like to attend, and upon
Bee approval, I can get an advance check. Please advise at your earliest
convenience.

The CORRECT date for Spaghetti dinner is Friday, February 8th (but you might

Following are plans/decisions made regarding this project to benefit
Immokalee. It's long so you might want to print it off for reference.
Thanks in advance for your help and support. If you don't see your name in
red it can easily be added by choosing an item in blue.
EVENT DATE: February 2, 2008 (Friday)
LOCATION: Tentative - First United Methodist Church
HOW MUCH $ DO WE WANT TO RAISE: Goal is set at $3,000.00
That is a commitment of $100 per member - above donated items
(Non-Immokalee residents can sell tickets outside of Immokalee to those who
would buy a meal for those at the Friendship House - or other similar group
in Immokalee - open for suggestions)
TICKET PRICE: $5.00 - that's 600 spaghetti dinners! Weill have to sell
tickets outside of Immokalee for donated meals
Looking for "freebies" over and above $100 ticket sales:
PUBLICITY! !
Radio Station - Lupita can we get free air time?
Newspaper - Eva will handle
Fliers - to school children - high school to elementary. Flier creator &
printer will be Diane ..
Posters - for local establishments - good job for moms, dads & kids - need
help
Need help publicizing in all areas/organizations represented by our club.
Day of event Snipe Signs & Directionals - Judi will get them - need help
putting them out day of event
MEAL WILL BE CARRY OUT
DELIVERY? Need help from one who knows area well
Meatballs - Rick will make the meatballs - need help with the ingredients

peppers, etc.
Rolls - Dick will snag a deal with Wino Dixie
EVERY IMMOKALEE ROTARIAN will bring a dessert which will be sold at an
additional cost.
COMMUNITY
Who, in the Immokalee community can we get to help with donations of things
we need:
Ingredients for meatballs, sauce and pasta
Take-out containers large divided and small for desserts plastic flatware
Has large pots
Sell tickets at their establishments
