EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award RFP #07-4148, Security Services & Equipment
agreement between Collier County and Johnson Controls, Inc. on an as-needed
basis.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain approval from the Board of County Commissioners to award RFP #07-
4148, Security Services & Equipment agreement between Collier County and Johnson Controls,
Inc. on an as-needed basis.
CONSIDERATIONS: In the County's continuing effort to utilize technology to protect its
employees, visitors and physical assets, it relies on different types of technologies, including but
not limited to, security / life safety / air quality monitoring services, burglar / intrusion systems,
fire systems, UPS systems weather systems, etc. Additionally, the County sometimes requires
security consultation services. This RFP will provide a wide variety of equipment, technology
and services associated with the County's facilities.
RFP #07-4148 was posted on June 5, 2007. Thirty-two notices of the RFP were sent out and
three proposals were received by the due date of July 6, 2007. The selection committee chose
Johnson Controls, Inc., by consensus, for an initial two years with two additional one year
renewal periods at the County's discretion. The Selection Committee recommends that the
Board approves the award of this RFP with Johnson Controis, Inc. for security services and
equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT: This purchasing agreement is based on an as-needed basis. It is estimated
that the County could spend from $25,000 to $150,000 per year. Funds are available in the
Facilities Management operating budget (001-122240).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan
related to this action.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners awards RFP #07-4148,
Security Services & Equipment and authorizes the Chairman to sign the corresponding standard
agreement between Collier County and Johnson Controls, Inc. after County Attorney review and
approval.
