EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a budget amendment transferring $62,500 from Project
#806051 Delasol Neighborhood Park to Project #800341 Oakes Neighborhood Park
Obiective: To provide a neighborhood park for recreational uses for the Oakes Neighborhood.
Considerations: On June 25, 2002 the Board of County Commissioners (BCe) approved a
policy and procedure for the creation of Neighborhood Parks and Tot Lots. The policy approved
limited the cost for development of a Neighborhood Park to approximately $250,000.
The Oakes Neighborhood Park project was budgeted for $250,000 to develop the site with
concrete sidewalk, driveway, walking trails, culverts, pavers, fencing, landscaping and all park
amenities. After design and permitting process, funds remaining in the project for construction
are $169,072.
The bid proposals were sent to nine General Contractors. The lowest responsive bidder was
Bradanna, Inc. in the amount of $156,067. The bid proposal included site preparation, culverts,
concrete sidewalk, driveway, pavers, fencing, and landscaping.
The bid amount is for construction only and does not include park amenities such as pavilion,
._ playground, benches, trash receptacles, bike rack, signage, construction permits and
contingencies.
It is estimated that park amenities, i.e., pavilion, playground, benches, trash receptacles, bike
rack, signage, construction permits, and 5% for contingencies will amount to $62,500. An
additional $62,500 is needed to fund these amenities.
Fiscal ImDact: A budget amendment is requested to transfer $62,500 from Project #806051
Delasol Neighborhood Park to Project #800341 Oakes Neighborhood Park.
Growth Manal!ement Impact: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan related to
this action.
Recommendation: That the Board of County Commissioners approve the budget amendment of
$62,500 from Project #806051 transferring to Project #800341 in order to purchase and install
park amenities.
