EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Request approval by the Board of County Commissioners for the proposed schedule for the
Land Development Code (LDC) amendment cycle for 2008
OBJECTIVE:
Request that the Board of County Commissioners (the Board) approve a schedule for the Land
Development Code (LDC) Amendment 2008 Cycle I, so that the schedule will be adhered to by
involved parties and not subject to change, except in the case of emergencies.
CONSIDERATIONS:
In past LDC Amendment cycles, members of advisory boards and others have amended the LDC
Amendment cycle schedule of meetings long after the schedule has been circulated to
participants. Staff and the public, as well as members of other County advisory boards, civic
organizations and members of the public who follow the LDC Amendment cycles, plan their
activities and commitments months in advance around the schedule. When the meeting dates are
changed as little as I or 2 weeks before the meetings are to occur, these individuals cannot
participate in the public review and enactment of land development regulations.
.'"--". The LDC Amendment Cycle schedule as set forth below is developed to allow the staff to
perform their duties in a thorough and timely manner.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The above schedule meets all the procedural requirements of the Land Development Code for
public hearings for ordinances that affect the use of land including land development regulations,
,,,,~.- change in zoning and change to the actual list of permitted, conditional or prohibited uses ofland
within a zoning category.

FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT:
Staff, as part of the LDC review and vetting process will assess the proposed amendments to the
LDC for consistency with the Future Land Use Element of the Growth Management Plan.
STAFF RECOMMENDA nON:
Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the proposed schedule that
would require advisory boards, staff members and participants to follow the timeline set forth
