APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER(S) TO THE RADIO ROAD BEAUTIFICATION ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
OBJECTIVE: To appoint 2 members to serve 4 year terms, expiring on March 3, 2012, to the
Radio Road Beautification Advisory Committee.
CONSIDERA nONS: The Radio Road Beautification Advisory Committee has 2 terms
expiring on March 3, 2008. This 5-rnember committee was established on October 21, 1997 to
aid and assist the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the purposes of providing
curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median areas as set forth in
Ordinance No. 96-84. This 5 member committee shall recommend work programs and priorities
to the County Administrator or his designee. Members shall be permanent residents within the
MSTU. Terms are 4 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The terms for Dale L. Lewis and Betty R. Schudel will expire on March 3, 2008. A press release
was issued and resumes wcre received from the following 2 interested citizens:

NOTE: Section Seven (B) of Ordinance 2001-55 states "Terms of office for Board mernbers
shall be limited to two consecutive terms of service on anyone Board. .." Under (D) of the
sanle section, it is noted that "By a unanimous vote of the Commission, the limitations set forth
in subsection (B) above may be waived". According to available records, Dale L. Lewis has
served 2 or more terms. Should the Board wish to re-appoint Mr. Lewis, the limitations on two
consecutive terms will need to be waived.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: NONE
RECOMMENDA nON: That the Board of County Commissioners consider the
recommendation for appointment, appoint 2 members, and direct the County Attorney to prepare
a resolution confirming the appointments.

SUBJECT: Recommendation to the BOCC for filling its two vacancies in the Radio Road MSTU.
The Radio Road MSTU has received and reviewed two applications by the prescribed deadline for its
two vacancies. The Applicants were evaluated based on the potential contributions to the Committee.
Both applicants meet the criteria required to be eligible for the committee and reside within the MSTU's
district boundary.
Dale Lewis has served in this committee for 6 years and had I excused absence. Betty Schudel
has served in this committee for 4 years and had I excused absence. The Committee recommends both
Dale Lewis and Betty Schudel for Re-appointrnent.
