EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99-410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Donna Fiala
FUNCTION/EVENT: The Friends of Collier Fashion Show
PUBLIC PURPOSE: To participate in the Friends of Collier Fashion Show and
network with constituents.
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: Saturday, February 23,2008
FISCAL IMPACT: $55.00 Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99-4 I 0, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Donna Fiala to
attend function serving a valid public purpose.

Hi Donna, I'm sure you are aware of this years' Friends of Collier Fashion Show", but I was wondering
if you could mention it in your Collier Citizen piece. This years theme is "It's Magic and will feature
the Magic of Keith Raygor. You might have seen him at Watermark Gril - he is very entertaining and
I'm sure will have a great show along with the fashions. It might be too late for this week but if you
could mention it for next week, we'd sure appreciate your help.
As you also know, the money raised from this is used to toward our Scholarship Fund, and this year,
durring the show, we are going to present the award of our first $1,000 Scholarship, with a matching
contribution from the State of Florida. This student will be entering the medical field and will be only
the first of many we will help.
