EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99-410, the Board of County
Commissioners has detennined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Commissioner Fiala
FUNCTION/EVENT: 4th Annuai Freedom of the Press Luncheon
PUBLIC PURPOSE: To participate in the 4th Annual Freedom of the Press Luncheon
and network with constituents.
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: Wednesday, March 12,2008
FISCAL IMPACT: $30.00 Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No, 99-410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Fiala to attend
function serving a valid public purpose.

You recently received the BCC Agenda (either yesterday or this morning). Per Mike Sheffield, County Manager's
Office, it is imperative that specific pages be removed immediately from your packet.
Regarding 16H1 and 16H2 on the 3/11 agenda: On both items, Commissioner Fiala's personal checks have
been scanned in and have now become part of the back up material. She would like them deleted from the
permanent record.
