EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to awanl Contract(s) #08-5017, "Annual Contract for Countywide Exotic
Vegetation Removal" to the foUowing fU'DlS: Resource Restoration, Ine., Environmental
Aquatic, Earth Balance and Aquagenix.
OBJECfIVE: To receive Board approval for award of professional services contracts to the
above firms in order to provide countywide exotic vegetation removal services for multiple
projects without issuing individual Requests for Proposals.
CONSIDERATIONS: A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on November 9, 2007 to
solicit a contract for Countywide Exotic Vegetation Removal Services. Notices were sent to one
hundred and twenty five (125) finns and twelve (12) firms responded by the due date of
December 7, 2007. A selection committee was formed according to the standard Purchasing
Procedures, and by consensus, recommended the following firms to be awarded a contract.
1. Resource Restoration, Inc.
2. Environmental Aquatic
3. Earth Balance
4. Aquagenix

Contract negotiations have been successfully completed by staff for the four (4) firms at this
time. All four (4) firms will be notified to submit proposals for each project under this
agreement which staff believes will provide the opportunity for a fair and equitable distribution
of work. The lowest qualified bidder will be awarded the work. This is a fixed-term contract
which provides for work orders to be issued for each assignment subject to the terms of the
contract.
FISCAL IMPACf: The funding for each work order that is assigned under the approved
contracts will come from each user Department.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: While these contracts have no direct growth
management impact, they are consistent with the County's long-tenn growth plans.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners: (1) Award professional
services agreements to the four (4) firms, and (2) authorize the Chairman of the Board to sign the
standard, County Attorney approved agreements.
