These citizens, many, whose occupations are far from the medical realm, can make a difference in an emergency, during the first few minutes prior to the arrival of the EMS Department. Today, we would like to honor a group of those citizens. Les Williams reads: Thanks to the continued support of the Board of County Commissioners, the public Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) Program here in Collier County has been a model that other communities have attempted to duplicate. Through this AED Program, thousands of citizens, not in the medical profession, have been trained in CPR and how to operate an AED if an emergency should ever arise. Today we are honoring II citizens for their efforts in medical emergencies throughout the year. Walter and Michelle Kopka for their quick actions while in church in the spring of2007. Virginia Mazzeo, Anthony Richichi, and Parks Department Employees Denise Lee and Edna Snyder for their teamwork when a patient went into cardiac arrest while at a local county park. Stephanie Donavan, who responded to a cry for help at a neighbor's house when a 2 year old child was found at the bottom of a swimming pool. She performed life saving procedures until EMS arrived. Her patient 2 y, year old Enzo Oteri and his parents are joining us today. Dave Burgham, Jim Kirk, and Parks Department employees Ramon Coriano and Ellen Barkin for their quick actions at the Golden Gate Recreation Center in May 2007 when Jack Stalf, also joining us today, went into cardiac arrest while playing basketball. All of their patients we successfully resuscitated and were discharged from the hospital. AHA speaks briefly on the importance of Citizen CPR. Statements by Jack Stalf and J anine Oteri.
