Executive SUmmary
Recommendation to approve the award of Bid #No. 08-5023 for voice and data cabling,
equipment, materials and related communications services to CW Solutions as primary and Dura
Tech Systems, OSP Management and Aztek Communications as secondary, tertiary and
quaternary providers.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain approval to award a contract for voice and data cabling and
communications related services.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Information Technology Department is responsible for the
installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of County-provided voice and data
communications infrastructure. The Department outsources a variety of voice and data cabling
and communications related services to private contractors.
On January 18, 2008, the Purchasing Department solicited bids to contract for voice and data
cabling and communications related services. Bids were opened on February 6, 2008. The
selection of vendors was based on pricing for these services and materials. In addition,
consideration was given for response time and markup over actual cost for materials. A total of
six bidders responded and the four (4) lowest, qualified, and responsive bidders are
recommended.

Staff is recommending award to CW Solutions as primary and Dura Tech Systems, OSP
Management and Aztek Communications as secondary, tertiary and quaternary providers for
voice and data cabling, equipment, materials and related communications services,
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are budgeted in various Department cost centers. This contract is
used when work authorized by the requesting department requires voice or data cabling services.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: There is no impact on the County's Growth Management Plan.
RECOMMENDATION: Recommendation to approve the award of Bid #No. 08-5023 for
voice and data cabling, equipment, materials and related communications services to CW
Solutions as primary and Dura Tech Systems, OSP Management and Aztek Communications as
secondary, tertiary and quaternary providers.
