EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99-410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collicr County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Donna Fiala
FUNCTION/EVENT: Naples Botanical Garden Grey Oaks Tour and Luncheon
PUBLIC PURPOSE: To participate in the Naples Botanical Garden Grey Oaks Tour
and Lucheon and network with constituents,
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: Wednesday, May 14,2008
FISCAL IMPACT: $40.00 Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99-410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Donna Fiala to
attend function serving a valid public purpose,

Now in its fourth year at the Garden, the Naples Flower Show will feature the Naples
Garden Club's 55th Annual Flower Show and Naples Botanical Garden's Garden Market
with vendors of unusual plants, jewelry, and garden ornaments. This year's flower
show theme...Belo Brasil (Beautiful Brazil). Horticulture and design exhibits will
explore many aspects of Brazil, from the legendary personal style of its inhabitants to
its natural and man-made beauty. Demonstrations of horticulture and design, as well
as tours of Naples Botanical Garden, will be offered.
Featured guest, actress and artist Jane Seymour, will present a sampling of her
botanical paintings and her most recent book, Making Yourseif at Home, on Saturday
March 29th from 2-4pm. Ms. Seymour will be on hand to discuss her paintings with
collectors and admirers, and to sign copies of her book. Exquisite floral designs based
on her art will be on display.
