APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER(S) TO THE COLLIER COUNTY COASTAL ADVSIORY
COMMITIEE
OBJECTIVE: To appoint two members to the Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee has 2 vacancies
representing the City of Naples and Marco Island. This 9 member committee was created by
Ordinance 2001-03 to assist the Board of County Commissioners with its establishment of
unified beach erosion control and inlet management programs within the nnincorporated and
incorporated areas of Collier County, and to advise the Board of County Commissioners and the
Tourist Development Council (TDC) of project priorities with respect to funding sources that are
available to Collier County for restoration and protection of its shoreline. The committee is
composed of 3 members from the unincorporated area of Collier County, 3 members from the
City of Naples and 3 members from the City of Marco Island. Selection for membership on this
committee will be based upon the applicant's familiarity with coastal processes, inlet dynamics,
coastal management programs, or demonstrated interest in such programs; relevant education
and experience; leadership and involvement in community affairs; and willingness to attend
meetings and to undertake and complete assignments. After initial appoin1ments, terms will be 4
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The term for Murray H. Hendel (representing the City of Naples) will expire on May 22, 2008
and COlUlcilman E. Glenn Tucker (representing Marco Island; term expiring on May 22,2011) is
no longer on the Marco Island City Council.
The City of Naples and Marco Island was advised of the above vacancies and letters were
received from both municipalities as follows:
CITY OF NAPLES RECOMMENDATION: Murray H. Hendel reappoin1ment - term
expiring May 22, 2012
MARCO ISLAND RECOMMENDATION: Councilman Ted Forcht to fulfill remainder of
vacant term - expiring May 22, 2011

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: NONE
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners consider the
recommendation for appoin1ment, appoint 2 members, and direct the County Attorney to prepare
a resolution confirming the appoin1ments.

Dear Ms. Filson:
It is our understanding that the term of E. Glenn Tucker, a representative from
Marco Island to the Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee will expire on May
22, 2011. Because of term limits, Mr. Tucker will no longer serve as a Marco
Island City Council member.
At the Marco Island City Council meeting on March 17, 2007 City Council
unanimously agreed to recommend the appointment of Councilman Ted Forcht to
fill the unexpired term of E. Glenn Tucker on the CAC. Councilman Forcht's brief
resume is attached.
We respectfully ask that you forward our City Council's recommendation to the
Board of County Commissioners for the appointment of Councilman Ted Forcht to
the Coastal Advisory Committee.
