WHEREAS. a sound natural environment is the foundation of a heoJthy society
and a robust economy: and,
WHEREAS. local communities can do much to reverse environmental degradation
and contribute to building 0 heolthy society by oddreuing iuues
such os energy use, transportation. and waste prevention: and,
WHEREAS. the envit'"DItmcntaJ realities of DUr time require humans to make a
dramatic shift in our refationshlp to the earth: tmd.
WHEReAS. the citizens of C<>IIier County ho.., the opportunity to join millions
of people oround the world in making a pasiti.., difference in
reducing water and air pollution. conserving resources and saving
energy by recycling and buying recycled products: and.
WHeReAS. the Public utilities Division's Solid Woste Management and utility
Billing & Customer Service Departments. und&r the direction of the
Collier County Board of County Commissioners, have worked
diligently to de..,/op a multifaceted recycling program as a way to
preserve valuable landfill space and conserve natuNJI resources;
and,
WHEREAS, the Public Utilities t:>iv;s;on's Poflution Control & Prevention
l>epartment proactively plans. develops, and eff;c;~tJy implement$
progrGms that protect the safety, health. and welfare of the
community and its environment through the protection of Collier
County's groundwater, freshwater, surface water and other water
resources from all sources of pollution.
NOW THEReFORe. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissio""rs of
