APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER(S) TO THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
ADIVOSRY COUNCIL
OBJECTIVE: To appoint I member to fulfill the remainder of a vacant term and confirm I
member representing the Collier County Fire Chiefs Association to the Emergency Medical
Services Advisory Council (EMSAC).
CONSIDERATIONS: The Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council has I vacancy
due to a resignation with the term expiring on August 31,2009, representing the AT-LARGE
position. This 14 member council advises the Board of County Commissioners on all aspects of
emergency medical services, including the operational budget, level of service and equipment.
Membership includes 2 At Large Members, I member from each Commission District, I
member representing Naples Community Hospital, 1 member representing Physicians Regional
Medical Center, I member representing the Sheriffs Department, I member representing the
Health Department, I member representing the City of Naples EMS/Fire Department, I member
representing the Collier County Fire Chiefs Association, I member representing Marco Island
Police and Emergency Services, and I ex-officio member. T enns are 3 years. A list of the
current membership is included in the backup.
Mr. Johan Domenie resigned on February 21, 2008. A press release was issued and resumes

30th, 2008, the members present voted unanimously to have Dr. James Hampton fill
the "At Large" vacancy. The other two applicants were Dr. Fay Biles and George
Danz, who withdrew his application on April 7th, 2008.

As President of the Collier County Fire Chiefs Association, I am inquiring about the
ability to have the Board of County Commissioners authorize approval for Chief Metzger
to represent the CCFCA on the EMSAC advisory board. It is my understanding that they
may override the residency requirement. If there is a provision for this, we would like
the opportunity to request a waiver of residency.
Chief Metzger is knowledgeable in the field of Emergency Medicine and my colleagues
and I feel that he is the best candidate to represent the CCFCA at this time.
