EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to Recognize Revenue received from Universal Services Administrative
Company (USAC) in the amount of $48,000 and appropriate funds to purchase and install
public computer management software.
OBJECTIVE: To have the BCC recognize revenue received by the Library and to approve the
attached budget amendment, in the amount of $48,000, in order to purchase and install software
on library computers.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Library receives reimbursements for funds expended on telephone
and Internet access through the federal program USAC Schools and Library Division. Funds are
intended to assist Libraries in their efforts to provide free Internet access to the public. These
funds can be used to support libraries as they pay for network computer costs and purchase
additional computers and other equipment or software that enables the public to access the
1ntemet at public libraries.
Recognizing these funds and approving the budget amendment will enable the Library to
purchase and install computer software to better manage public 1ntemet access, while providing
better service to the public with less staff intervention in the process.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The County Attorney's Office has reviewed this item
for legal sufficiency and there are no outstanding legal considerations. -SRT.
FISCAL IMPACT: Revenue in the Library Grant Fund State Aid to Libraries, Fund 129-
156112 - 311291 will be recognized in the amount of $48,000 and expenditures appropriated in
the same amount.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners recognize the additional
revenue and approve the attached Budget Amendment
