Recommendation for the Board of County Commissioners to approve
Amendment #1 to Contract No. 07-4151, Annual Contract for Sale of Baled
Corrugated and White Goods' with Mike Anderson Hauling Inc., to
increasethe tonnage price that the County receives for the hauling of white
goods from $67.00 per ton to $200.00 per ton and to add a price adjustment
clause.
OBJECTIVE: To increase the price the County receives for White Goods
(appliances) from $ 67.00 per ton to $ 200.00 per ton and to add a price
adjustment clause to the contract that will reassess this price every three months.
CONSIDERATIONS: As part of the of the Integrated Solid Waste Management
Strategy to conserve landfill airspace, the Board approved on July 24, 2007,
Agenda Item No. 16.C.17, 07-4151. Annual Contract for Sale of Baled
Corrugated and White Goods' to provide hauling of white goods (appliances) by
Mike Anderson Hauling Inc. The Naples Recycling Center collects and processes
approximately one hundred sixty-five (165) tons per month of baled corrugated
(cardboard) and white goods (appliances and metals) that are processed for
recycling, reuse and resale. Currently, the market trend for recycled steel has
increased significantly over the past several months according to the American
Metal Market. Therefore, the contract price was re-negotiated with Mike
Anderson Hauling to accommodate for the increased price, and assure that the
County was receiving a fair and reasonable price for white goods. The reo
negotiated price was benchmarked from the American Metal Market published
price for a #2 bundle per long ton. This contract amendment will increase the
dollar amount the County receives for white goods (appliances) from $67.00 per
ton to $200.00 per ton and add additional language to the contract that allows the
County to negotiate for increases or decreases based on the American Metal
Market (AAM) published price of the Birmingham Market for a #2 Bundle per long
ton.
FiSCAL IMPACT: Modification of our White Goods contracts will help to ensure
maximum reimbursements from Mike Anderson Hauling Inc.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth impact associated with
this executive summary.
lEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved by the County
Attorney's office and is legally sufficient for Board action. CMG-
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves
contract amendment #1 to Contract 07-4151.Annual Contract for Baled

This amendment, dated . 2008 to the referenced agreement shall be by and between the parties
to the original agreement, Mike Anderson Hauling. LLC, to be referred to as "Contractor" and Collier
County, Florida, (to be referred to as "County").

PRICE ADJUSTMENT

commensurate with the increase or decrease in the AAM (American Metal Market) BirminEham Market
