EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Petition SNR-2008-AR-12854, Christian Spilker of the Hamilton Harbor Marina, Inc.,
requesting a street name change. The applicant proposes to change Fern Street to Hamilton
Avenue. The street length is +/- 2,300 feet with 11 parcels abutting the street. The site is
located in Section 23, Township 50 South, Range 25 East, Collier County, Florida.
OBJECTIVE:
Recommendation to have the Collier County Board of County Commissioners approve the
Resolution renaming Fern Street to Hamilton Avenue.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The Petitioner has met the requirements for requesting a street name change and the proposed
name does not duplicate an existing street name in Collier County. Of the 10 owners of property
abutting the street in question, 8 (or 80 percent) have granted their approval of the change.
Collier County Ordinance No. 2007-62 states that anyone wishing to rename a County street
must submit a petition establishing that at least 66 percent of the property owners abutting the
street are in favor of the change.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Fiscal impact will be incurred in the form of staff time spent noting changes on plats by the
Engineering and Environmental Services Department and address records by Addressing staff.
Fiscal impact to fire, police (Sheriffs Office), Post Office, EMS, and 911 Emergency Services
will be incurred in the form of costs to update rccords and maps. The Petitioner will bear the cost
of replacing the sign(s).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT:
The renaming of the street will have no impact on the Grow1h Management Plan.
ZONING DEPARTMENT STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve Petition SNR-2008-AR-
12854, changing the name of Fern Street to Hamilton Avenue.
COLLIER COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION (CCPC) RECOMMENDATION:
The Collier County Planning Commission does not review street name change petitions.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The County Attorney's Office has reviewed this matter and prepared the proposed Resolution.

RESOLUTION NO 08 -
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, RENAMING FERN STREET TO
HAMILTON AVENUE, WHICH STREET IS
LOCATED IN SECTION 23, TOWNSHIP 50
SOUTH. RANGE 25 EAST, COLLIER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE,
WHEREAS, the legislature of the Stale of Florida by enacling Scclion 336.05,
Florida Statutes, has conferred on all counties in Florida the power to name or rename
streets and roads, except for certain state roads; and
'WHEREAS, the County pursuant thereto has adopted Collier County Ordinance
No. 07-62, codifted as Chaptcr 22, Article X, of the Code of Laws and Ordinanct:s of
Collier County, Florida, and establishes criteria and procedures to rename streets or roads;
and
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners (Board), has held
a public hearing after providing notice as required by said ordinance and has considered the
advisability to grant the request by lIemilton lIarbor Marina, Inc., to rename Fcm Street to
Humilton Avcnue, which is located in Section 23, Township 50 South, Range 25 East,
Collier Cmmty, Florida; and
\VHEREAS, the Board has detennined that all criteria .set forth in Ordinance No,
07-62) have been met and specifically finds that there is no other street in incorporated or
unincorporated Collier County with the same name or any similar sounding name as is
being requested; and
WHEREAS, the Board hus determined that it is necessary for identification
purposes to confirm the name of the street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, lhat;
Effective the date ofhearillg, the name oftrus street described in the above recitals
is changed from FERN STREET to HAMIL TON A VENUE, and is confinned as such.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED thai this Resolution be recorded in the Public
Records of Collier COlmty, Florida, and referenced upon the maps of the street, any
applicable plat(s), and in the zoning atlases of Collier COWlty.
