EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Bid #08 -5062 in the amount of $381,500 to Carter
Fence Company, Inc., for the repair and installation of new chain link fence for
five County park projects located at various sites.
Objective: Approval to award Bid #08 -5062 to Carter Fence Company, Inc. in the
amount of $381,500 for the repair and installation of new chain link fence for five County
park projects located at various sites.
Considerations: On March 12, 2008, staff sent a notice of bid #08 -5062 for fence repair
on various parks sites: Golden Gate Community Park, Gulf Coast Community Park,
Starcher Petty Park, Veterans Community Park, and Vineyards Community Park,
The request for bid included repair and installation of new chain link fence and
miscellaneous repairs for five County park projects located at various sites. There were
432 notices went out, 63 packages were received and one responsive and one non-
responsive bid received on April 16, 2008. The allocation for these repair cost for five
park projects are as follows:
Golden Gate Community Park
$264,500.00
Gulf Coast Community Park
$ 11,000.00
Starcher Petty Park
$ 18,000.00
Veterans Community Park
$ 12,000.00
Vineyards Community Park.
$ 76.000.00
TOTAL $381,500.00
Staff reviewed the bid and recommends awarding the bid to Carter Fence and
Company, Inc. as the lowest qualified and responsive bidder.
Fiscal Impact: Funds are budgeted from Golden Gate Community Park, Fund #306.
Growth Management Impact: The value of the improved facility will be inventoried in
the Growth Management Plan.
Recommendation: That the Board of County Commissioners award the Bid to Carter
Fence and Company, Inc. in the lump sum amount of $381,500.
