Agenda 09/23/2008 Item # 4G41d Oa PROCLAMATION �4 WHEREAS, Congressman Connie Mack was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in ZOOO and ably served the people of Florida as a member of the Florida Legislature through 2003,• and, WHEREAS, the citizens of Collier County and the residents of the 14th Congressional District of Florida elected Connie Mack to the United States House of Representatives in 2004,• and, WHEREAS, as a member of the United States House of Representatives, Congressman Connie Mack has ably, forthrightly, and diligently represented the interests of the people of Collier County; and, WHEREAS, Congressman Connie Mock successfully secured $91.1 million to expand Interstate 75 in Collier and Lee Counties, • and, WHEREAS, Congressman Connie Mack has worked in concert with the Collier County Board of County Commissioners to secure vital funding for key environmental, infrastructure, and other projects essential to preserve our quality of life; and, WHEREAS, Congressman Connie Mack has been nationally recognized by numerous organizations for his steadfast commitment to keeping federal taxes low and to eliminate wasteful federal spending; and, WHEREAS, Congressman Connie Mack has been notionally recognized for fighting to keep our oceans healthy and for his legislative initiatives to improve research into red tide and other harmful algae blooms, and, WHEREAS, Congressman Connie Mack has been recognized for his tireless work to secure a new clinic to care for Southwest Florida's veterans, • and, WHEREAS, by every measure of public service, Congressman Connie Mack has consistently and successfully demonstrated his commitment to his constituents and the ideals of freedom, security, and prosperity. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that September Z3, Z008, be designated as CONNIE MACK DAY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 23rd Day of September, 2008.
