EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Donna Fiala
EDC Excellence in Industry Awards
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with local business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION /EVENT: September 13, 2008
FISCAL IMPACT: $50.00 Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Donna Fiala to
attend function serving a valid public purpose.

function serving a Valid Public Purpose. Attended the EDC Excellence in Industry Awards on
September 13, 2008 at Sugden Community Theatre in Naples, FL. $50.00 to be paid from
Commissioner Fiala's travel budget.

Hi Jordan,
The details, hmm..still working on them, but here is what you need to know right now, our reception will begin at Vergina's
at 5:30 pm (5" Avenue) and we will walk over to the Sugden Theatre and start our awards presentation at 7:00 pm.
I will register Commissioner Fiala, the charge is $50.00 we only charge elected officials the cost of food, She can pay with
a check the night of or you can send it in to me, whichever works best for you.
I am still working on the order of the presenters, right now I think I have her presenting 2 awards, that may change, I will
send over as soon as I work out those little details.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to send information to you all in regards to the awards presentation on Saturday. The event will begin with a
reception at Vergina's on 5t' Avenue South at 5:30 pm. I will start to ask people to beginning walking the Red Carpet to
the Sugden Community Theatre around 6:30 pm, I want the ceremony to start at 7:00 pm. The dress I am requesting in
cocktail attire, of course women like to dress up more then men, so it would be appropriate for a jacket and tie for men.
7:00 pm we have the installation of the EDC Board of Directors
7:30 -7:40 pm Awards Presentation will begin
Awards Presentation- in this order
Innovation Small Business — Commissioner Henning to present
Innovation Medium Business — Commissioner Henning to Present
Innovation Large — Commissioner Henning to present
Business Expansion — Commissioner Fiala to present
Newcomer— Local and Governor's Award recipient — Amy Evancho and Rep. Matt Hudson will present
Entrepreneurship — Commissioner Coletta to present
Export Excellence Award —Local and Governor's Award recipient — Amy Evancho and Rep Matt Hudson will present
Green to Gold Award — Commissioner Fiala to present
Volunteer of the Year — Future Leaders (son's of the Award recipient to present)
My Master of Ceremonies is Dave Elliott, he will announce the award presenters prior to announcing the award winners
and the showing of the video's, if you could ask them to go to the podium area when they here their name called and get
the award from Dave and or Stage manager to present to the people coming on stage to accept, pause for a photo, shake
hands, etc.. No speaking is required.
If for some reason they are not able to attend, I will need to know in advance to make changes, please call me on my cell
