EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award bid #08 -5051 to Cheney Brothers, Sysco, and
US Foods for concession food resale and paper products at North Collier
Regional Park at an estimated cost of $220,000
Objective: To sell food, drinks and supplies to patrons of North Collier Regional
Park during normal facility operating hours.
Considerations: On March 12, 2008 the Purchasing Department opened bids
from three (3) bidders; the initial intent was to award this bid on a
primary/secondary basis assuming there would be multiple bidders. However,
after review of the three responsive bids, it was determined that Cheney
Brothers, Sysco, and US Foods could supply all products in the established
categories. Two of the bidders Cheney Brothers and Sysco were able to
accommodate over 98% of the bid and US Foods only 60% of the bid. However,
the Cheney Brothers and Sysco bid items that did not meet the specs on the bid
and US Foods did. Purchasing accepted all three bids.
Staff recommends awarding bid #08 -5051 to Cheney Brothers, Sysco, and US
Foods for food sold at concession stands at North Collier Regional Park. Prices
quoted and agreed upon with Cheney Brothers, Sysco, and US Foods would
allow Parks and Recreation to operate a food concession.
Fiscal Impact: North Collier Regional Park budgeted $220,000 for operations to
include food concessions and paper products. The $220,000 is split up between
three vendors: $90,000 will go to Cheney Brothers, $90,000 to Sysco, and
$40,000 to US Foods.
Growth Management Impact: No growth management impact is associated
with this action.
Recommendation: That the Board of County Commissioners award bid #08-
5051 to Cheney Brothers, Sysco, and US Foods and approve expenditures of
approximately $220,000 for food concessions and paper products associated
with this bid.
