EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reject bid #08 -5071, "U.S. 41 North Tamiami Trail Effluent Water
Conversion"
OBJECTIVE: To receive Board approval to reject bid #08 -5071 "U.S. 41 North Tamiami Trail
Effluent Water Conversion'.
CONSIDERATIONS: The bid was posted on April 11, 2008 and received on May 15, 2008.
Five hundred sixty-six (566) notifications were sent; fifty -six (56) were downloaded from the
web -based procurement system and two responsive bids were received. The two bids were
Douglas N. Higgins in the amount of $146,541.75 and Hannula Landscaping & Irrigation Inc. in
the amount of $130,777.25.
Staff recommends that the Board reject bid 908 -5071 due to lack of availability of reuse water for
six (6) months of the year (December to May). Staff will revisit this project once the reuse supply
can be guaranteed for this area of US 41 North (Vanderbilt Beach Road to Immokalee Road).
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved by the County Attorney's Office
and is legally sufficient for Board action. - -SRT.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: It is consistent with the County's long -term growth
plans.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners reject bid #08 -5071 "U.S.
41 North Tamiami Trail Effluent Water Conversion ".
