WHEREAS, Florda Senator Burt L. Saunders began his public service career as Collier
Comfy Attorney in Taly, 1982, providing the County Commission with sound
legal advice during a period of rapid growth and dewJopment,• and,
WHEREAS, Surf L. Saunders served admirably as a Collier County CammitiWMr from
1986 to 1994; and,
WHEREAS, Burt L. Sounders was elected to the Florida House of Reprrswrafives in
1.994 to 1998; and,
WHEREAS Burt. L. Saunders has entered his tenth year and final term in the Florida
Senate, concluding November 4, 2?", and
WHEREAS, Burt L. Saunders, through 26 years of public serwee, has demonstrated his
commitment M our community at the local, Comfy and State levels; and,
WHEREAS, Bw^f L. Sounders has served m numemas Senate Committees tackling
challenging subjects such as Environmental Preservation and Conservation,
Property Casualty Insurance Accountabllify, Public Education Health and
Human Servlces, and Everglades Restoration; and,
WHEREAS, Burt L. Saunders has received numerous awards for his dedicated service and
was recently recognized by the Audubon of Florida as a Steward of the
Everglades; the Flamda Association of Counties, Florida State Lodge Frotzrml
Order of Police as Senator of fix Year; Lee County School Board- and
comtless Flarldo agencies for Legislative leadership and appreiation; and,
WHEREAS, Bw•t L. Saunders, has demonstrated his support and understanding of Comfy
issues, going beyond the call of duty successfully working with local
governments and the legislature in Tallahassee in order to protect home mk,
and,
WHEREAS, Burt L. Saunders has committed a quarter century to public service and
should be formally recognized for his outstanding accomplishments in the
quest to speak for the people and facilitate a better quality of life for all of
us.
NOW THERE7-ORE, be it prodamed by the Board of County Comnnissimers of Collier
Comfy, Florida, that September 23, 2008, be designated as
