Explanation: Florida Statute 125.27 requires that the County pay the Florida Department of
Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, $.07 per acre (within a designated area) for
annual Forest Fire Protection. The adopted budget is based on a cost of $.03 per acre, and does not
reflect an increase in the contract amount resulting from a 2008 amendment to the Statute and the
subsequent contract amendment approved by the BCC on 9/23/08 (Item 161`8).
