EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommend approval by the Board of County Commissioners to award Bid #08-
5115 to BQ Concrete in the total amount of $55,437.50 for "Resurfacing of Parking
Lots at Barefoot Beach and Tigertail Park ".
OBJECTIVE: To resurface parking lot facilities at Barefoot Beach and Tigertail Park.
CONSIDERATIONS: On July 25, 2008 Bid #08-55185 was posted and 234 inquires
were sent out. Out of the 234 inquires, 32 packages were requested, and only 8 bids
were then received from the 32 requests.
Bids were opened on August 8, 2008. Staff reviewed bids and determined that the
lowest bidder did not meet the local vendor preference qualifications. The next lowest
bidder met the local preference and agreed to match the bid of the lowest bidder.
Staff recommends award of Bid #08-5115 to BO Concrete as the lowest qualified
responsive bidder in the amount of $55,437.50. BO Concrete meets the local vendor
preference qualifications.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS:
These items were recommended for approval as part of 183 Grant Applications at the
<~ May 16, 2007 P&RAB meeting. This recommendation carried 3-1.
These items were recommended for approval as part of 183 Grant Applications at the
May 29, 2007 TDC meeting. This recommendation carried 7 to 2.
At the July 24, 2007 BCC meeting, Fund 183 Grant Applications were recommended for
approval. Recommendation carried and approved on the Consent Agenda 1603.
COUNTY ATTORNEY FINDING: This item has been reviewed by the County
Attorney's Office and is legally sufficient for Board action. -CMG
FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient budget exists within Beach Park Facilities Fund (183) to
award and execute this parking lot resurfacing contract. Category "A" Tourist
Development Tax Revenue is the funding source.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact
associated with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners award Bid #08-5115
to BO concrete for resurfacing the parking lots at Barefoot Beach and Tigertail Park at a
cost not to exceed $55,437.50 and authorize the Board Chairman to execute the
standard contract.
